Cultivate NSW invites you to attend our first

Therapeutic Landscapes conference in NSW
"Making Connections - Plants and People"
Friday 14th October 2016, 8:30am - 4:30pm

This year's theme highlights the interaction between plants and people and the resulting therapeutic benefits experienced by our interconnectedness. The conference will lead and inform delegates on how gardens and natural settings contribute and impact on the wellness of individuals, groups and client populations. Our aim is to increase this understanding and move towards standard training and practice in Australian professional services in therapeutic horticulture with an emphasis on evidence based practice.

Delegates will include a range of professionals including horticulturists, landscape designers, occupational therapists, diversional therapists, recreation activities officers, health professionals, psychologists, counsellors, academics, researchers, students and volunteers.

Keynote Speakers

Anna Baker Cresswell, HighGround, UK

Anna has been bringing Horticultural Therapy to the military in the UK since 2007, first through a charity called Gardening Leave, then HighGround and now at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court where UK service personnel go for their rehab following injury.

Dr Theresa Scott

Dr Scott has been researching the health and wellbeing benefits of gardening for older adults. In particular, her findings showed multi-sensory indoor garden installations in residential aged-care facilities have increased novelty and encouraged social engagement.

Other speakers will be bringing details of projects they have worked on including landscape design for children, supporting Sydney's homeless through the Streetgrowth Program and how to make gardening accessible to all.
