A big thank you is extended to everyone who attended our Therapeutic Landscapes Conference last month. Your feedback was overwhelmingly positive with everyone enjoying the variety of speakers and presentations on the day.

Delegates indicated that they found the conference both informative and inspiring. TAFE NSW SWSI certainly helped us to provide a unique experience in the aircraft hangar and surrounding gardens to enjoy.

Many people have requested a copy of the speakers’ presentations but we would ask you to contact the presenter directly for these, please. Details about each speaker are available elsewhere on our website.

After such an inspiring day, many of you will also be interested to find out what other Cultivate events and training are coming up in the future. We have taken on the feedback from the conference and will be providing bi-monthly workshops, talks or outings on a range of days to cater for most preferences. 2017 will see events held on a weekday morning as well as Friday and Saturday afternoons. Be sure to check your emails regularly for updates as we bring more exciting speakers and events in the new year.

Short courses will also be offered for those interested in up-skilling in Social and Therapeutic Horticulture. Gardening as Therapy workshops will be held at Padstow TAFE and facilitated by our Society President, Toni Salter on 18 November 2016 and again on 2 & 3 February 2017. Click here for details. A Statement of Attainment in Therapeutic Horticulture will once again be offered at Padstow TAFE as a government subsidised course running over 8 weeks, beginning in mid February 2017. Click here for details of TAFE courses

A feature of the conference was to highlight the need for a national body to oversee our industry which will provide input and endorsement of nationally accredited training packages. We are currently working on the establishment of such a national body and making progress with the development of a Certificate II in Social & Therapeutic Horticulture. Stay tuned for announcements around these developments as they come to hand next year.

We would also like to thank our sponsors and Corporate Members who helped make the conference such a success and provided opportunity for delegates to be inspired about new products that support inclusive gardening for people of all ages and abilities. Generous donations from our sponsors provided beautiful native flower displays and lucky door prizes throughout the day.

If you are keen to attend next year’s conference here are the details:
